ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN
Fighting to reset the power dynamic in Williamsburg County and ensure government serves the people, not special interests.
Lathonia Bennett's campaign for Williamsburg County Supervisor isn't about business as usual. It's about fundamentally transforming how county government operates—making it transparent, accountable, and responsive to the people it serves.
For too long, decisions have been made behind closed doors. Boards operate in secret. Residents are shut out of processes that affect their neighborhoods and lives. This has to change.
Through four transformative referendum initiatives, Lathonia is giving citizens the tools to reshape their government. Because democracy works best when power rests with the people.

Williamsburg County has been controlled by career politicians who prioritize their own interests over those of ordinary citizens. These entrenched officials have created a system that works for them—not for the people who elected them.
Decisions are made in closed meetings. Residents are shut out of processes that affect their neighborhoods. Special interests have more influence than voters. This cycle of corruption and self-serving politics has to end.
That's what Lathonia's campaign is about: eradicating the corrupt career politician mentality and returning power to the people. The four referendums aren't just policy proposals—they're tools to dismantle the system that allows a few people to control county government.
Every signature on a petition is a message: "We see what's happening. We're taking our government back. And we're giving corrupt politicians their walking papers."
Help End the Cycle →The principles that guide this campaign and the vision for Williamsburg County's future
Government decisions should be made in the open. Citizens deserve access to meeting minutes, participation opportunities, and clear information about how their government operates.
No single person should hold unchecked power. Leaders must answer to the people. Independent boards and fair processes ensure decisions serve the community, not special interests.
Democracy works when citizens have real power to shape their government. These referendums put ultimate decision-making authority back in residents' hands where it belongs.
Strong neighborhoods require coordinated planning, fair development decisions, and services that work together. Government should strengthen communities, not exploit them.
